All resources provided to give a complete interactive presentation about bird song and sonograms within the following theme:

Be Aware
of Your  Environment!

If you look more carefully,
you will see more!

If you listen more carefully,
you will hear more!

Using Bird Song as an Example.

Suitable for participants from Junior High Students to Retired Senior Citizens.

The instructions for preparing to present the PowerPoint program on Bird Songs and Sonograms are below. (Of course, my own little personal stories along the way during the presentation are omitted, but all the basics are provided.)

I.  The PowerPoint file "sonograms2024.pptx" PLUS ALL the mp3 song files MUST all be SAVED into the same local folder, e.g., sonograms, for the PowerPoint presentation to work.  (Repeated for emphasis: The PowerPoint file will NOT work successfully without the separate mp3 files also being saved and being present in the same folder, e.g., in the same folder on a flash drive. Because of the large size of the mp3 files, those mp3 files can not be embedded within the original PowerPoint pptx file - but those song files are then called upon by the PowerPoint file during the presentation.)

In fact, to be on the safe side for the PowerPoint presentation, SAVE ALL THE FILES provided in the sonograms folder https://raywinstead.com/sonograms/ into your own local file folder. Many of the files must be in the same folder for the PowerPoint presentation to work. Be aware that this process of saving all the files will take a little time.

After saving all the files in the online sonograms folder into your own local file folder - then, for the presentation, open the PowerPoint pptx file "sonograms2024.pptx" that you previously saved in the designated folder. Make sure you have good external speakers attached.

II.  Handouts

Print out the following two handouts for each participant (also in list of saved files).

III. Answers for the presenter - for the END of the presentation. First, ask the participants for their answer of the matching sonogram for each bird song - one at a time. Then, after giving the answer for that one song, play the song again through PowerPoint to reinforce the connection between the song and the sonogram - to help train the brain to listen more carefully.
