Kasey with Chickadee, January 3, 2013

Carol with Chickadee, February 4, 2017
When I arrived at Blue Spruce Park the morning of December 2, 2024, to
feed the wild birds out of my hand, Sheriff's Deputies Dale and Hall of
the Indiana County Sheriff's Office were in the parking lot, so I
encouraged them to see what I was doing not too far away for just a few
minutes. They couldn't stay very long, but Deputy Hall was immediately
successful in having chickadees, titmice, and nuthatches come to his
hand. You can see a nuthatch on his hand in this photo. Let's show our
support for the members of our law enforcement agencies with positive
interactions with them whenever we can!

(Birds being fed near the woods were led and enticed farther up into the
playground than usual
- and this experience stimulated the idea, fund raising, and the
construction of The Chickadee Pathway sidewalk
into the woods.)

A photo of me feeding a nuthatch was also on the front page of the local newspaper on December 10, 2013. The newspaper photographer Tom Peel was out at the park looking for a shot, so he took photos of me feeding the birds.
